Many Parts

The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12, NLT).
Sports taught me the value of teamwork at a very young age. It’s one of the most beneficial aspects of being involved with activities where you’re forced to work with others in order to be successful. I fully believe it contributes to success later in life when you enter the workforce.
It also highlights one of my favorite verses from Scripture, 1 Corinthians 12:12: The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.
I work in a clinic where we have seven to eight full time physical therapists. In order for us to serve the community, while maintaining financial productivity, we have to work well together.
Every person, including all of our support staff, plays a vital role in how well the “body” of the clinic functions. And the thing I love most about being part of a team, whether that’s in a sports or work setting, is that every “player” brings a valuable skill set to the table.
My co-worker refers to me as the clinic thermometer. I’m able to accurately assess the “temperature” of the clinic in order to help us adjust as needed. Other members of the team bring different skills that help us to function more effectively.
We have a PT that is an emotionally supportive leader.
We have a PT that is great with facilitating hard conversations.
We have a PT who brings a demeanor of calm that helps in stressful situations.
We have staff support with a lot of experience who helps solve problems.
I could continue, but hopefully this highlights the truth that many hands are involved in the operations of our clinic. As 1 Corinthians suggests, all are needed in order to make up one whole body, KORT Nicholasville.
I love the last line of the verse, too, which says “so it is with the body of Christ.” Every great team is so because each member leans into the value of filling their role on the team, regardless of what that role looks like, to the best of their ability.
Are you creative? The body of Christ needs you.
Are you good with administrative work? The body of Christ needs you.
Do you have big faith? The body of Christ needs you.
Are you discerning, able to accurately distinguish truth from lies? The body of Christ needs you.
Regardless of what you’ve been led to believe in the past, you are valuable, and you are needed. We need your part to make up the whole body of Christ. Bring your best self every day.

And a team becomes a family who will contact ea other anytime & reminisce on their team accomplishments. Team members will support ea other espec when in need—like a Christian family. We may not agree w/another’s actions but we support them espec when they need us!
